Over 35 students from 8 universities and institutes across the Sahiwal Division
participated in the Inter Universities Programming Competition 2019 (IUPC’19)
powered by Subway, Sahiwal.
Enthusiastically participating in the IUPC’19, organized by department of Computer
Sciences Society (CSS) at CUI, Sahiwal Campus, the students demonstrated their expertise
and skills in IT competition. The objective of the event was to provide an opportunity
to future IT professionals to exhibit their skills and to get them familiarised
with the latest trends of the fast-developing IT sector.
Teams from University of Lahore, Govt. College University, Faisalabad, Govt. Women
Post Graduate College, Govt. Boys Post Graduate College, University of Central Punjab,
AIRD University, CUI, Sahiwal and Vehari were participated in this event.
Speaking at the closing session of the event, Director, CUI, Sahiwal Campus Prof.
Dr. Saleem Farooq Shaukat while welcoming the participants, highlighted the importance
of IT and technological innovations for existence of today's world.
He emphasized that the emerging economies in the world were now focusing on entrepreneurship
which he said was the key for the development. He appreciated the CSS for holding
the mega event, which provided an opportunity to the students to exhibit their IT
skills.
The students should develop a habit of actively participating in such co-curricular
activities to enhance their professional skills, he added. Head of Computer Science
Department, Dr. Javed Ferzund while speaking on the occasion, highlighted the vital
role of CUI in producing World Class IT professionals meeting requirements of the
contemporary era.
University of Lahore, CUI, Sahiwal and CUI Vehari campus got first, second and third
position respectively.
Deputy Registrar, Mr. Yasir Ikram, HoD Computer Science Department, Dr. Javed Farzand,
Convener CSS, Mr. Zafar Iqbal Roy, Dr. Majid Hussain, Mr. Hassan Waseem Khan, Owner
Subway, Sahiwal, Mr. Zain Mir, Manager Subway, Sahiwal and members of CSS were also
present there.Later, shields & certificates were distributed among winners of competitions.
