Defence Day was celebrated as Kashmir Solidarity Day with patriotic spirit at COMSATS
University Islamabad, Sahiwal Campus. A walk and talk were arranged within campus.
Director CUI, Sahiwal Campus Prof. Dr. Saleem Farooq Shaukat talked with the participants.
Director said it was on this day in 1965 that Indian forces crossed international
border in the darkness of night to attack Pakistan but the nation and the armed
forces foiled the nefarious plan of the enemy. Pakistan armed forces have made the
defence of Pakistan impregnable, with its passion, courage and matchless sacrifices
to defend the motherland.
He said that September 6 was an important day in the history of the country. On
this day, brave Pakistani armed forces defended the country and gave sacrifices,
he added. He paid tribute to the martyrs, adding their sacrifices would not go waste.
He said role of Pakistani armed forces against the anti Pakistan elements was appreciable.
Residents of the occupied valley are living under a strict curfew and other crippling
restrictions since August 4, a day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government
abrogated Article 370, revoking the special status of India’s only Muslim-majority
state.
He expressed his optimism that hard time of people of Kashmir was near to end and
their struggle to get rid of Indian occupation will soon succeed. Special prayer
was also offered for the martyrs, progress and prosperity of the country and independence
of occupied Kashmir from the cruel clutches of India. A large number of Faculty,
Officers, Staff & Students were present there.
